Thomas Hart Benton
Benton is most known for his style of regionalism and realism. He was the mentor to the famous Jackson Pollock, but he had his own fame during the 1920's as well. Benton displayed real-life America in his paintings, especially the mid-west where he originated from. He is most famous for his murals such as, America Today, which can still be seen today in New York City. It was painted in 1929 and represents the very fast paced lifestyle of America at the time. Because of his representations of the mid-west as well, he was soon kicked back there where his work was more accepted.
